“Heat” # 4 by Ilona Huss Walin, 2013. From a scene in the movie Heat (1996) where five gangsters make up after a robbery. In the video project “Heat” I make my own versions of scenes from an American action movie where I myself have all the roles and everything takes place at home in my kitchen. I’m interested in seeing what happens when in a video work I let a single person shoulder all the characters and the interaction that takes place between them. I create a choreography where in my kitchen I literally walk between the roles and imitate the expressions and movements of the various Hollywood stars. So far, I only “imitate” the action in the action movie and let everything else like camera angles and clips be different. Performance and the video medium alternate in my work.
