A text is taken from the novel Gemini by the French author Michel Tournier. In focus of the novel you find a pair of twins who are lovers. In the video a pair of twins, or two of the same man, are reading a text, by heart. They read half of the words each: the one to the left reads the first half of the words, and the one to the right reads, fills in, the last part of the words. They men are synchronised so that one can understand the text, even though there is a small pause between the first and the last part of the words.
The text is about the twins, told by one of them. It is about a walk on the beach, about their communication and their love.
Born in 1958, works and lives in Stockholm, Sweden. The works by Andreas Gedin combines an interest for ideas, communication, logistics, text and power relations. Often his works interfere with given rules. This causes disturbance of what we regard as normal. Therefore humor is an important part of many of his work. The works can be presented in small actions, videos, text, photography or whatever suits the artworks best.
Andreas Gedin has participated in several exhibitions nationally and internationally. Among them: Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, Netherlands Media Art Institute, Amsterdam, Holland, and Nicolai CCAC, Copenhagen, Freespace, Sydney. Previous years solo shows include Index, Stockholm, Bildmuseet, Umeå and Moderna Museet, Stockholm among many others. Gedin has also done a series of projects at Liljevalchs Konsthall in Stockholm.
