Born in 1968 in Bucharest, Romania. Lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
Ştefan Constantinescu graduated from the graphic arts department of the Bucharest Art Academy. In parallel, he studied at the Royal Academy of Stockholm, where he received his MFA in 1997.
He works in multiple mediums, including film, photography, artist books and painting. His activity includes many group and individual exhibitions in Romania, Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden. After painting, his major interest in recent years was focused on video film. A Swedish resident since 1993, his activities include art and design. In 2009 he represented Romania at the Venice Biennale with the film Troleibuzul 92. In 2012 his short film Family Dinner screened in Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, and in 2013 his film Six Big Fish premiered in the competition of the Locarno Film Festival.
