Born in 1970 in Helsinki, Finland, where she is still living and working.

Pirjetta Brander makes drawings, paintings, animations, sculptures and large scale installations. Her paintings and drawings are figurative, full of colour, contrast and details and the animations resemble moving paintings and often include performative elements. All her work is strongly based on drawings.

She has studied art in Konstskolan Basis, Stockholm, Sweden, Tampere Polytechnics, Art And Media department, Tampere, Finland and in the sculpture department at Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, Finland. Pirjetta Brander has participated in solo and group exhibitions, video festivals and screenings since 1995 worldwide and also writes about visual art, curates and produces exhibitions and teaches in all major art schools in Finland.
