After having worked as a photographic artist for over 40 years (www.olofthiel.se/exhibitions) and sound composer for 10 years (www.olofthiel.se/sound) Olof Thiel is now combining his experiences from these two fields into the making of film. Where feature films with its actors, scripts etc corresponds to the form of the novel he works with the medium more like a poet without given stories, characters, dialogues etc. By making the camera the subject, combined with an elaborate use of the languages of images and sounds, the spectator is invited to follow along in the film – being like a dream narrative …

The above film though is strictly an experimental commentary on the composition RESPITE written by Tommy Zwedberg and performed, in conjunction with his tape music, by The Saxophone Quartet.

Olof does all the work with his films including producing the idea, filming, cutting and afterwork and to a certain extent sound – for the time being in the form of short films.

He has worked concentrated with film for 5 years (www.olofthiel.se/film) and is now working on his sixth film – BLACKWHITE…
